Includes a high-level review of up to 10 manuscript pages to help determine pricing, along with an executive summary of general recommendations, initial observations, and potential areas for revision.
Includes a full copy/line edit of up to 15 manuscript pages, along with high-level developmental notes on areas such as pacing, clarity, character development, scene effectiveness, and potential revision opportunities.
This service includes the creation/refinement of a one-to three-sentence book hook. For example: "She thought he was gone forever, but he’s been watching her from the shadows for years. When he finally steps out of the darkness, can she forgive him for letting her believe he was dead?"
This service includes refinement of a book blurb. For example: "Can a few simple letters unlock the door to true love? Gideon Frost certainly hopes so. Scarred physically and emotionally after a house fire in his teens, Gideon has spent years living in isolation on Hideaway Mountain. Desperate for connection, he turns to Mountain Match, a unique dating platform designed for those longing for quiet lives in the mountains and willing to marry after exchanging a few letters..."

Here are answers to some of the most common questions I receive about my editing services. Still unsure about something? Send me a message—I’m happy to help!
The main difference between these packages is the level of story feedback included. Both packages include line editing, which means I will look closely at sentence flow, rhythm, clarity, word choice, paragraph structure, and readability, along with standard copyediting concerns like grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and syntax.
The Copy & Line Editing package focuses primarily on the manuscript at the sentence and paragraph level. The Copy, Line & Developmental Editing package goes deeper by also evaluating the larger story elements, including plot, pacing, structure, character development, emotional progression, continuity, and whether each scene is working effectively within the manuscript as a whole.
My developmental, copy, and line edits are completed through a hybrid process. Rather than separating them into fully separate editing rounds, I address developmental concerns, line-level revisions, and copyediting issues as I move through the manuscript.
This allows me to provide detailed feedback on story-level elements such as plot, pacing, character development, continuity, and scene effectiveness while also improving sentence flow, clarity, rhythm, grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
A fully separate developmental edit followed by a separate copy/line edit is always an option, but it is typically more expensive. My hybrid approach allows me to provide a thorough, engaged edit while keeping the overall cost more manageable for authors.
My rates are based on the manuscript’s word count, genre, level of refinement, editing needs, and the overall scope of the project. Because editing is highly time-intensive, I do not generally negotiate rates below the range listed in my pricing sheet.
That said, I understand that editing is an investment, and I’m happy to discuss options when possible. This may include payment plans, adjusted timelines, or a modified editing approach to better fit your budget while still respecting the time and depth of work required.
If you have budget concerns, please communicate them early in the inquiry process—ideally after reviewing my pricing sheet and before a full sample edit is completed—so we can determine whether the project is a good fit before either of us invests additional time.
